For the early parliamentary elections that will be held on June 11th 2017, political parties have nominated a total of 253 candidates for Municipal Elections Commissions. From these nominations, only 32 of them have been elected to be part of MECs. Referring the declarations signed by these political parties, initiated by D4D in 2015, to increase the participation of women in electoral processes, it is noticeable that the political parties have not fulfilled their pledge on this matter.

From the total nominations, women representation marks only 13% of the total members of MECs, while the declaration states that the women representation in these electoral bodies to be 40%.
