On June 7th, the D4D Institute, in partnership with Democracy in Action (DiA), held its fourth roundtable on the topic of “Electoral Justice in the June 11th Elections” in the city of Prizren. The panelists at this roundtable were representatives from the Kosovo Police, the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Central Election Commission, the Basic Court of Prizren, Prosecutor’s Office of Prizren, and members of the Municipal Election Commission in Prizren. Mr. Munishi, from the State Prosecutor’s Office, presented the prosecutors’ perspective regarding the June 11th elections. He focused on explaining the standard procedures and penalties for violations during the electoral process with a particular emphasis on punitive measures for taking pictures of someone’s vote. In Captain Surdulli’s presentation, he highlighted the mobilization plans of the Kosovo Police in terms of providing security throughout the territory of Kosovo in order to guarantee a safe climate for the electoral process.

Mr. Hyseni from the CEC presented the work done by the secretariat of the CEC in organizing the entire electoral process, including the election of MECs, PSCs, and election management troops. Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Basic Court in Prizren also demonstrated that the number of indictments, trials, decisions, and convictions against persons who had been accused of criminal offenses during the 2013 and 2014 elections was reduced in relation to the 2010 elections.

These meetings are held in collaboration with Democracy in Action (Demokracia në Veprim) with the financial support from USAID Kosovo and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Prishtina Office.
